Dear Parents, welcome to the Year 1 Page.

Please remember every day your child must bring:

* Water bottle: Clearly labelled with their name

* Hat: Clearly labelled with their name

* Pencil case: Must have a pencil, rubber, pencil crayon and pencil sharpener.

* Folders: Homework Folder should be brought to school every day with Planner and Guided Reading Book and Reading Record. Library, ICT, Arabic Folder, Islamic Folder and Qatar History folders only need to be brought to school on the specific day. Please see your child's class timetable to ensure folders are brought to school on the correct day.

* Reading Record and Guided Reading book: Please read with your child each night and write a comment in their Reading Record.

There will be no more spelling tests. However it is advised to continue to practise Phase 2 sounds, Phase 3 sounds, tricky words and high frequency words with your children.


Parents are welcome to use these links for children to practise the Phase Two and Phase Three sounds. Parents may print out the Phase Two and Three flash cards to encourage children to recognise and say the sounds. Visit Letters and Sounds for more sounds, words, sentences to practise if you feel it is necessary for your child.

For additional, optional learning the children have access to a great interactive website called Active Learn. They can log on at home using a tablet or computer and complete different activities like reading stories, maths games and phonics games.
This is an optional activity that you can use and is not part of their homework.
You can find their website access codes inside their planner.

The best internet browser to use is Google Chrome and please check that the 'pop up blocker' is switched off.
