The Year 4 team would like to welcome you all back for another year NBA. This is sure be another year of fun and learning for all pupils and Year 4 staff.
Each week homework will be uploaded onto wikispace, please ensure that all tasks are printed of for your child/children and completed to the best of their ability. All tasks should be completed by the children and not by an adult or home tutor. This is the best way for teachers to track pupils learning and know when extra assistance and guidance is needed.

During the the week of 15 - 19 January 2017 NBA will be enjoying Science Week which will conclude on Thursday the 19th of January with a Science Fair. Students will bring in their projects and present them to visiting parents, teachers and their fellow classmates. Students are to select one project to complete at home. They can select one of the attached projects or they can choose their own project/investigation. Students must conduct an investigation with a focus on the scientific method. Some ideas have been attached and may be used. Students are responsible for gathering their own materials at home and all the work must be done at home. The document attached will help with the investigation and how to present the information gathered. We are not allowing volcanoes and mentos and coke demonstrations. All Science Fair projects must be brought to school on the 19th of January. Students will also enjoy a variety of different activities during the week. Homework.png

We have changed the format of our homework to try and meet the needs of all individuals. This is in response to feedback from parents, some would like more homework and others would like less. This new format is over two pages and gives the opportunity for children to expand and write more if you or they would like to, but is also a manageable amount for those who only have limited time.

Education City and Top Marks are two websites that have a great variety of activities for your child to complete.

Education City has some good reading activities your child can complete which include comprehension questions.
If you are reading at home with you child, print of the following question cards and use them after or during reading to help your child improve comprehension skills.

Term 2 Year 4 French (from 3rd until 26th January 2017)

Y4 children will learn more about the following topics in the French class during term 2:

  • Calendar (months): French (non-religious) celebrations and traditions. They will have the chance to share their experience and say how they celebrate certain events in their home country.
  • Seasons: it will be the opportunity to design a calendar, sing a song.
  • Colours & opinions: they will learn the basic colours and associate them with a wide variety of objects. Children will be able to say what colours they like or dislike.
  • Class-Project (POSTER) colours "les couleurs"

Y4 children must collect and bring pictures in class (cliparts, photos, drawings) of food/seasons/objects/animals they associate with a specific colour

(e.g. a lemon, a bird or the sun represent the yellow colour : I like yellow, it is my favourite colour).

You can cut pictures from magazines or catalogues (Carrefour or Lulu catalogues).

Children will make a poster in class to write the colours they like and dislike. They will illustrate their opinions with the pictures/ drawings they collected at home.
